Guidance Software Introduces EnCase Cybercrime Arsenal™
Nation's top computer investigative software company broadens its product offering to make cutting-edge forensics technology more accessible to law enforcement agencies
Pasadena Calif. (July 28, 2005) – Recovering digital evidence is a critical part of even the most routine police investigation. Recognizing the growing need for advanced cyberforensics capabilities at law enforcement agencies of all sizes, Guidance Software Inc., creators of EnCase, the world’s leading computer investigative software, today announced the release of the EnCase Cybercrime Arsenal software bundle.
Created with law enforcement in mind, the customizable and affordable package of software, hardware and training make it possible for agencies to rapidly acquire all the resources they need to conduct computer forensic investigations in-house, limiting the time and resources previously required. Until now, the majority of local law enforcement agencies around the nation have outsurced analysis of digital evidence to regional labs whose backlog can run months.
“With the explosion of crimes leaving trails of digital evidence, there is a growing need to increase the forensic capabilities at law enforcement agencies around the nation,” said Sergeant Darin Meadows of the Houston County Georgia Sheriff’s Office. “Whether the crime involves drugs, violence, fraud, child pornography or even acts of terrorism, following the electronic trail is a critical component of putting the pieces of the puzzle together.”
Based on EnCase technology, the Arsenal package includes the latest EnCase Forensic software, the industry standard for computer investigations. By providing law enforcement agencies with ability to search, capture, authenticate and analyze computer evidence rapidly and thoroughly in-house, the bundle makes it easier than ever before for law enforcement agencies to quickly establish forensic capabilities previously restricted by cost. This in turn will ease the demand on regional labs, which currently provide computer-related assistance to law enforcement agencies around the nation.
The software bundle is available in three packaged solutions, including Arsenal Forensic Edition, Arsenal FIM (Field Intelligence Model), and Arsenal FIM with Snapshot; a unique feature which allows capture of volatile data running in computer memory. Each software bundle includes:
- EnCase Software: The basic Arsenal package includes the latest EnCase Forensic software, the industry standard for standalone investigations. Local law enforcement agencies have the option of purchasing the Arsenal with network-enabled EnCase Field Intelligence Model software, or the deluxe version with Snapshot capabilities for capturing “live” or volatile data.
- Hardware: Depending on the package and your preference, you have a choice of one computer, either a laptop or desktop, with all the necessary accessories, specifically designed by Forensic Computers.
- Support: With either EnCase Field Intelligence Model Arsenal, you get three years of support as part of your package, plus our current Professional Suite modules. The EnCase Forensic package includes three years of support, current modules, plus module upgrades as part of the Premium License Support Program.
- Training: All three Arsenal packages include one, 32-hour Guidance Software training course taught by our world-class instructors.
“Local law enforcement requires the right tools to do their jobs as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Bill Siebert, Director of Customer Relations at Guidance Software. “By packaging the software into an all inclusive bundle that includes training and hardware, the cost of conducting a computer forensic investigation will be greatly reduced, as will the paperwork required to requisition these tools. Consequently, law enforcement agencies will be better prepared to solve the growing number of crimes involving digital evidence.”
